Face ID on New iPhone X Can Be Replicated Two Years Again
By Unknown October 08, 2017
New features of the iPhone are often imitated soon after Android is released. But for the Face ID camera takes a long time.
Analyst KGI Securities Ming-Chi Kuo had time to estimate takes about 1 - 2 years for Android vendors to bring the TrueDepth camera used in the Face ID feature. But the estimate was revised to two and a half years.
This is after Kuo witnessed the technical demonstration of the TrueDepth camera in detail. Therefore he then believes it took longer for Android phone vendors to imitate the same capabilities.
Thanks to TrueDepth technology this will bring Apple to be the leader in mobile technology throughout 2018 and 2019. Kuo so have full confidence in iPhone growth over the next few years.
That is why, KGI Securities revised the sales forecast of iPhone X throughout 2017. Initially they only estimate the brand-new Apple phone that sold 30 million units, but now to 35 million units.
To note, because the iPhone X is not equipped with Touch ID, then Apple presents Face ID for device security. Interestingly, Apple's FaceID feature is claimed to be much more secure than its fingerprint sensor. When the Touch ID has a 1: 50,000 error rate, then the Face ID is better, ie 1: 1,000,000.
This feature will automatically scan and confirm the user's identity without having to press the button. In order to have this capability, Face ID uses multiple artificial neural networks built into neural engines in the A11 Bionic processor to process face recognition data.
In the scanning process, Apple equips the iPhone X with TrueDepth Camera to deeply mapping faces, thus getting a detailed overview of all user faces.
With these supplies plus the intelligence processor A11 Bionic, Apple claims the iPhone X is very safe. It's hard for someone to forge face scanning through photos and more.
So what if the user is using glasses or growing a beard on the face? Face ID can still recognize. This feature mapping 30,000 points in the user's face, so it can adjust the face changes over time.
So whether you wear glasses, have different haircuts or become thinner than before, Face ID still recognize. Even when you do makeup that makes the display change even this feature still recognize. At least, that's the theory.
Related function, in addition to open the phone and keep the security of iPhone X, Face ID have other capabilities. Users can use Face ID for Apple Pay payment.
In addition, the TrueDepth Camera feature captures and analyzes more than 50 different muscle movements. Furthermore users can express themselves with 12 animoji, there are pandas, cats, aliens and others
