According to Daeun Lee, one of the defectors, the women served as soldiers for 6 years.
While it is mandatory for men to become military for 11 years.
During that time also women who become soldiers experienced all forms of abuse.
Officers who distribute uniforms and food often use their power to force female soldiers to have sex with them.
Such harrassment is something Lee experienced himself.
At that time Lee was in a state of malnutrition, weighing only 36 kg.
There is a Major General who is about 45 years old.
At that time Lee was only 18 years old.
The general tried to force Lee, he told everyone to leave except Lee.
Then suddenly he told Lee to take off all his clothes.
He said he would check Lee for malnutrition so he could send him to the hospital if needed.
Lee had no choice but to follow the orders of the major general.
He was then told to take off his underwear and somehow the major general came to Lee.
After sexually assaulting, the major general beat Lee.
Lee remembered that his ears were throbbing and his teeth came off after being hit.
The Major-General threatened Lee not to tell anyone if he did not want his life to be in hell.
Lee thinks many women are also experiencing similar things and there is no one he can report.
Lee hopes that if Korea reunites, he wants to find the major general and make him experience 10 times more pain than he feels.
At least he wanted to hit the right side of his face like the major general did to him.
In addition to harassment, other horrors in North Korea are about food scarcity and malnutrition.
Lee admitted he only got 3 spoons of rice.
The women soldiers were indoctrinated that they were not as smart, as important, and as strong as men.
